A Dubai-based developer has filed with the City of Sarasota for what may be one of the region's most unconventional luxury housing proposals yet: Poseidon's Retreat, an eight-unit Sarasota underwater condominium planned for Sarasota Bay.

The proposal calls for eight luxury residences inside a transparent domed structure below the bay near downtown Sarasota. Plans describe terraced layouts, expansive glass walls, private observation lounges, climate-controlled marine gardens, and systems designed to support life below the surface.

Blue Meridian Development Group, which says it specializes in water-adjacent and water-immersive luxury housing, calls this its first U.S. attempt at fully submerged residential construction. The application is now under review by the city's Development Review Committee. In addition to site and engineering approval, the developer is seeking a new underwater zoning designation not currently recognized in Sarasota code.

If approved, the Sarasota underwater condominium would represent a first-of-its-kind project for the Gulf Coast — and a striking new chapter in Florida luxury real estate. Florida Real Estate Places will continue to follow the application as it moves through the review process.

Just FYI... This was an April Fool's Post!
